Flexiglass 1.0.11 - Window manager.. (Shareware)

Posted: 24 May 2011 04:17 AM PDT

Flexiglass ... Among the countless number of applications that just lay out windows on your desktop Flexiglass actually offers a convenient way to move, resize, maximize, and close windows on a Mac with a mouse, trackpad and keyboard.

Move & Resize

  • Usually, when you want to move or resize a window on a Mac you are limited by its title bar or lower-right corner. Flexiglass enables more comfortable window management. To quickly move or resize the active window just place the mouse cursor over it, press definable key and start dragging windows with left or right mouse button.
Quick Layouts
  • If you used to work with more than one window at a time Flexiglass will help you to arrange windows on your screen any way you like. Just move a window to the right, left or top, and it will automatically resize and move itself to fill the half of the screen or full screen.
Quick Layout Shortcuts
  • User-defined shortcuts allow users to move windows to the right, left, top and bottom halves of the screen or to maximize them to full screen and back to original size.
Multitouch Trackpad & Mouse
  • You can use finger gestures on your macbook trackpad or Magic trackpad to move and resize. Flexiglass is able to save different settings for a trackpad and a mouse and automatically change them when you plug or unplug devices.
Double-click to Zoom
  • Double-click on window title bar is the easiest way to expand it to full screen.
Real Zoom & Real Close
  • You can change the default behavior of standard Mac OS X buttons. Right-click on the green Zoom button will maximize a window to full screen. Right-click on Close window button will quit the whole application.

IJERPH, Vol. 8, Pages 1727-1754: Review of Pesticide Urinary Biomarker Measurements from Selected US EPA Children’s Observational Exposure Studies

Posted: 24 May 2011 12:00 AM PDT

Children are exposed to a wide variety of pesticides originating from both outdoor and indoor sources. Several studies were conducted or funded by the EPA over the past decade to investigate children's exposure to organophosphate and pyrethroid pesticides and the factors that impact their exposures. Urinary metabolite concentration measurements from these studies are consolidated here to identify trends, spatial and temporal patterns, and areas where further research is required. Namely, concentrations of the metabolites of chlorpyrifos (3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol or TCPy), diazinon (2-isopropyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidinol or IMP), and permethrin (3-phenoxybenzoic acid or 3-PBA) are presented. Information on the kinetic parameters describing absorption and elimination in humans is also presented to aid in interpretation. Metabolite concentrations varied more dramatically across studies for 3-PBA and IMP than for TCPy, with TCPy concentrations about an order of magnitude higher than the 3-PBA concentrations. Temporal variability was high for all metabolites with urinary 3-PBA concentrations slightly more consistent over time than the TCPy concentrations. Urinary biomarker levels provided only limited evidence of applications. The observed relationships between urinary metabolite levels and estimates of pesticide intake may be affected by differences in the contribution of each exposure route to total intake, which may vary with exposure intensity and across individuals.

IJERPH, Vol. 8, Pages 1707-1726: Comparing Distributions of Environmental Outcomes for Regulatory Environmental Justice Analysis

Posted: 24 May 2011 12:00 AM PDT

Economists have long been interested in measuring distributional impacts of policy interventions. As environmental justice (EJ) emerged as an ethical issue in the 1970s, the academic literature has provided statistical analyses of the incidence and causes of various environmental outcomes as they relate to race, income, and other demographic variables. In the context of regulatory impacts, however, there is a lack of consensus regarding what information is relevant for EJ analysis, and how best to present it. This paper helps frame the discussion by suggesting a set of questions fundamental to regulatory EJ analysis, reviewing past approaches to quantifying distributional equity, and discussing the potential for adapting existing tools to the regulatory context.

Sustainability, Vol. 3, Pages 763-788: Toward Food System Sustainability through School Food System Change: Think&EatGreen@School and the Making of a Community-University Research Alliance

Posted: 24 May 2011 12:00 AM PDT

This paper describes the theoretical and conceptual framework and the research and practice model of Think&EatGreen@School, a community-based action research project aiming to foster food citizenship in the City of Vancouver and to develop a model of sustainable institutional food systems in public schools. The authors argue that educational and policy interventions at the school and school board level can drive the goals of food system sustainability, food security, and food sovereignty. The complex relationship between food systems, climate change and environmental degradation require that international initiatives promoting sustainability be vigorously complemented by local multi-stakeholder efforts to preserve or restore the capacity to produce food in a durable manner. As a step towards making the City of Vancouver green, we are currently involved in attempts to transform the food system of the local schools by mobilizing the energy of a transdisciplinary research team of twelve university researchers, over 300 undergraduate and graduate students, and twenty community-based researchers and organizations working on food, public health, environmental and sustainability education.
