iDentify 497 - Tag iTunes-compatible MP4 video files.. (Shareware) Posted: 08 Apr 2012 02:13 AM PDT iDentify is an OS X application for tagging iTunes compatible MP4 video files. Normally, when you convert a video file to the format used by iOS devices such as the iPad, iPod, iPhone or AppleTV, all the information about the video is missing! The only thing you see is the name of the file where the title of the video should be! Enter iDentify 2! iDentify 2 looks at the name of files as they are added to it. Based on the name of the file, iDentify determines wether it is a TV Show or movie based on common naming conventions. From the file name, a lot of information can be gleaned, such as movie title, show name, season number, episode number, year of release, and imdb code. iDentify can then automatically look on The TVDB, The Movie DB, and tagChimp to gather more information about the title, such as description, rating, chapter names and more! iDentify also inspects the file and can automatically turn on the HD flag on the movie when the resolution of the file goes above a set minimum! iDentify not find your video? fixing it is easy! Simply edit the movie title or show name to match that found on theMovieDB.org, or theTVDB.com (respectively) and click rescan! Want to change the tags of multiple files in one fell swoop? (Free) Posted: 07 Apr 2012 08:59 PM PDT X Lossless Decoder (XLD) is a tool for Mac OS X that is able to decode/convert/play various 'lossless' audio files. The supported audio files can be split into some tracks with cue sheet when decoding. XLD supports the following formats: (Ogg) FLAC (.flac/.ogg) Monkey's Audio (.ape) Wavpack (.wv) TTA (.tta) Apple Lossless (.m4a) [10.4 and later] TAK (.tak) [Requires Wine] Shorten (.shn) [SHN v3 only] AIFF, WAV, etc Other formats supported by Libsndfile are also decodable. XLD uses not decoder frontend but library to decode, so no intermediate files are generated. All of the supported formats can be directly split with the cue sheet. XLD also supports so-called 'embedded' or 'internal' cue sheet. Currently you can choose output format from WAVE,AIFF and Raw PCM. American parents take out student loans for their kids' kindergarten education Posted: 07 Apr 2012 06:34 PM PDT Parents in America are taking out loans at interest rates of up to 20% in order to pay for their children's private K-12 education. The average loan from one provider, Your Tuition Solution, is $14,000, while the Lake Trust Credit Union lets you carry up to $40,000 in loans for your child's primary and secondary education. Some lenders allow parents to defer payment until their kids graduate college, which is when their college loans are also called in. Annamaria Andriotis writes in Smart Money: It used to be that families first signed up for education loans when their child enrolled in college, but a growing number of parents are seeking tuition assistance as soon as kindergarten. Though data is scarce, private school experts and the small number of lenders who provide loans for kindergarten through 12th grade say pre-college loans are becoming more popular. Your Tuition Solution, one of the largest lenders in this space, says demand for the upcoming year is already up: This month, the total dollar amount of loans families requested rose 10% compared to a year ago; at that pace, the company expects its total funding to rise to $20 million for 2012-13. Separately, First Marblehead, which exited the market in 2008, reentered last year as demand for loans began to rise. Much of this demand is coming from high-income families. Roughly 20% of families that applied for aid to pay for their children's kindergarten through 12th grade private school education had incomes of $150,000 or more, according to 2010-11 data, the latest from the National Association of Independent Schools. That's up from just 6% in 2002-03. Those who don't get approved for free aid, like grants, increasingly turn to loans, experts say.
