  • To conform more closely with the OGC KML 2.2 standard, we've made the parsing of the tag more strict in version 6.1. Spaces must only be used to separate the (longitude,latitude,altitude) triplets which specify the coordinates of a single point. It is invalid to add spaces between individual coordinates. We understand that previous versions of the client were more lenient, so if your KML files contain spaces beween coordinates in coordinate triplets, an easy workaround is to remove all whitespace located immediately before or after commas inside a tag.
  • Several performance improvements that would allow smoother experience in specific computer configurations.
  • Fixed 'Restrict to View' functionality during a shapefile import in Google Earth Pro.
  • Fixed an issue where Google Earth would sometimes save incorrect ordering of elements in KML.

Infants spend most of their indoor time at home; however, residential air quality is poorly understood. We investigated the air quality of infants' homes in the New England area of the U.S. Participants (N = 53) were parents of infants (0–6 months) who completed telephone surveys to identify potential pollutant sources in their residence. Carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter ≤0.5 µm (PM0.5), and total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) were measured in 10 homes over 4–7 days, and levels were compared with health-based guidelines. Pollutant levels varied substantially across homes and within homes with overall levels for some homes up to 20 times higher than for other homes. Average levels were 0.85 ppm, 663.2 ppm, 18.7 µg/m3, and 1626 µg/m3 for CO, CO2, PM0.5, and TVOCs, respectively. CO2, TVOCs, and PM0.5 levels exceeded health-based indoor air quality guidelines. Survey results suggest that nursery renovations and related potential pollutant sources may be associated with differences in urbanicity, income, and presence of older children with respiratory ailments, which could potentially confound health studies. While there are no standards for indoor residential air quality, our findings suggest that additional research is needed to assess indoor pollution exposure for infants, which may be a vulnerable population.

The rare-earth metal(III) ortho-oxomolybdates with the formula Ln0.667[MoO4] (Ln = Ce, Pr, Nd, and Sm) and defect scheelite-type structure crystallize in the tetragonal space group I41/a (a = 533–525, c = 1183–1158 pm) with four formula units per unit cell. The Ln3+ cations at Wyckoff position 4b exhibit a coordination sphere of eight oxygen atoms in the shape of a trigonal dodecahedron. The same site symmetry (..) is observed for the tetrahedral oxomolybdate(VI) entities [MoO4]2–, since their central Mo6+ cation is situated at the 4a position. Due to this equal site multiplicity, the lanthanoid(III) cations have to be statistically under-occupied to maintain electroneutrality, thus a defect scheelite structure emerges. The partial structure of both the Ln3+ cations and the [MoO4]2– anions (if shrunk to their centers of gravity) can be best described as distorted diamond-like arrangements. Therefore, these two interpenetrating partial structures exhibit a similar setup as found in the zircon-type as well as in the NaTl-type structure.

In serial passaging cultures of mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells, we employed a dendrimer-immobilized substrate that displayed d-glucose as a terminal ligand. The d-glucose-displaying dendrimer (GLU/D) surface caused the ES cells to form loosely attached spherical colonies, while those on a gelatin-coated surface formed flatter colonies that were firmly attached to the surface. Despite the morphological similarities between the colonies on the GLU/D surface and aggregates on a conventional bacteriological dish, immunostaining and RT-PCR analyses revealed the maintenance of cells within the spherical colonies on the GLU/D surface in an undifferentiated state with very low expressions of primitive endoderm markers. On the bacteriological dish, however, the cells within the aggregates showed a different cellular state with partial differentiation into the primitive endoderm lineage, and the expression level increased gradually along with the number of passages. These results indicate that the GLU/D surface can be a potential tool for controlling the ES cell morphology and then govern their self-renewal and fate.
