[Platform: Mobile (iPad (iOS))] New to the iPad world is the tower defense game we all love to love, Kingdom Rush HD from Ironhide Games, a port of Kingdom Rush for browsers released not too long ago. The team had a bit of a problem when an unauthorized clone appeared on the iTunes App Store weeks before release. The knockoff was spotted and eventually removed (whew), leaving space for this excellent port of an already excellent game to wow and surprise gamers in the iOS device realm!

Version 1.01:

Added 4 new bomb types to the game, all with their own mechanics.

    

  • Water bombs that can turn off fires. They do no damage but can defeat bouncing living fire. 

  • Grappling bombs that stick to surfaces, great to use as temporary stepping stone to climb up high indestructible obstacles. 

  • Hover bombs that are not affected by gravity. These are great to reach far, away places. 

  • Micro bombs that can do little damage but can go into small spaces. 

  • Old fashioned bombs are still pack the largest amount of damage.

Interface & Display
    

  • Renamed game the game from Misu Misu Kaboom! to Bomber Cat 

  • Changed game icon. 

  • Support for the following languages: Spanish, French, Russian, German, Korean, Japanese & Chinese (videos are only in English.) 

  • You can now skip levels after the first failure. 

  • Added a skip button to the pause screen. 

  • Levels no longer end after time is up, but your score will be zero if at the end of the level if you don't have any time left once you are done. 

  • Fixed a bug where the cursor would not show up in the game ending scene.

    Jonathan Lethem talks about 'The Ecstasy of Influence'

    Rick Kleffel and the Agony Column have a long podcast interview with Jonathan Lethem commemorating the publication of his new essay collection, The Ecstasy of Influence: Nonfictions, Etc., a discussion about how art builds on other art and how writing is done:

    An interview about 'The Ecstasy of Influence: Nonfictions, Etc.' with Jonathan Lethem is, for this book reviewer, something between therapy and a session with one of those gurus you see in cartoons sitting on a mountaintop, dispensing the wisdom of the ancients.

    Informative, but a bit on the intimidating side, seeing as to how you're talking to a gentleman paid highly and handsomely, who is actually asked to review books by the world's premiere editors and publications. You can find them in 'The Ecstasy of Influence: Nonfictions, Etc.'

    It helped then, that I've spoken with Lethem before, and that the thesis of his book, the sweet surprise center, is an argument that I tend to agree with and have been seen bandied about for the last few years now. It's the cornerstone of what makes the Internet so powerful.
