RestoreMeNot 1.0b9 - Disable window restoration in Mac OS X 10.7.. (Free)

Posted: 17 Feb 2012 08:59 PM PST

RestoreMeNot customizes Mac OS X 10.7's window restoration functionality.

The window restoration feature of Mac OS X Lion is one of the coolest features of Apple's new OS. Sometimes however, one might not want the windows of a certain application to be restored when launching it. Unfortunately window restoration can only be disabled system-wide and not on a per-application basis.

This is where RestoreMeNot comes in and provides a simple preference pane for disabling window restoration for individual applications. Please note that RestoreMeNot is only designed to disable the window restoration and not the reopening of apps that is part of Apple's "Resume" feature.

Version 1.0b9:
  • Slovak localization
  • Now accepting donations!

Quicksilver 65 - Application launcher and much more.. (Free)

Posted: 17 Feb 2012 08:59 PM PST

Quicksilver is a light, fast and free Mac application that gives you the power to control your Mac with keystrokes alone.

Quicksilver allows you to find what you need quickly and easily, then act upon these objets as you see fit. All with your fingers on the keyboard. As an example, if you want to find an application hidden in the depths of your file system, simply activate Quicksilver with a keystroke, type a few letters of the application's name, then hit Return or Enter to launch it, or tab and type to find an action such as Quit, Trash, Email To..., Run at Login, Move To..., Get Info, Reveal, the list goes on.

Quicksilver indexes and parses only selected parts of the contents of your hard drive in the Catalog, which means it locates and displays the items matching your search quickly. Quicksilver has a modular structure which means features for interaction with a whole host of of other applications (iTunes, 1Password, Safari, Microsoft Office) can be done after installing the relevant plugin.

Default Folder X 4.4.9 - Enhances Open and Save dialogs with bountiful options.. (Shareware)

Posted: 17 Feb 2012 08:59 PM PST

Default Folder X attaches a toolbar to the right side of the Open and Save dialogs in any Mac OS X-native application. The toolbar gives you fast access to various folders and commands. You just click on the buttons to go to your favorite and recently used folders, manage the folders and files shown in the list, and make changes to your settings.

Default Folder also fixes a number of problems in Open and Save dialogs, "rebounding" back to the last selected file, putting the path listing back in the top menu, and correcting bugs in scrolling column views.

Check out the screencast by clicking here!

Features:

  • Directory assistant: You can access the contents of your recent, favorite, and open folders right from Default Folder X's toolbar. Its hierarchical pop-up menus expand as you mouse over them, letting you navigate your folders to get to your files. To work faster, you can assign a keyboard shortcut for all of your favorite folders. If an Open and Save dialog isn't open, then you can use Default Folder X's menu bar, Dock icon, or keyboard shortcuts.
  • Real time saving: If you're constantly saving things inside the same folder, Default Folder X can remember that folder for you. You can even set a different default folder for each application you use. That way, you'll already be in the right folder when you're working.
  • Finder management: Have you ever wanted to save a file to an open Finder window? Default Folder X lets you open up or save to any Finder window with a single click. It also lets you get info on, rename, and delete existing files, putting the Finder's power in every Open and Save dialog.
  • Instant Recall: To help you quickly return to folders you've recently used, Default Folder X remembers them for you. It can even rebound to the last file you used in all your recent folders. With Default Folder X, you'll never forget where you put something.
  • Spotlight on the spot: Mac OS X delivers amazing search capabilities with Spotlight, but adding your own search keywords requires a trip to the Finder's Get Info window or to an application like Tags, Fresh, or Tag Folders. No more! Default Folder X lets you add Spotlight keywords, OpenMeta tags, and Finder labels on the spot, while you're still in the Save dialog. It even remembers keywords you've used before and automatically completes them as you type.
  • Information central: Leopard delivers amazing previews with QuickLook, but in Open dialogs they're small and you can only see them in column view. With Default Folder X you get previews below every Open dialog, expanded to fill the available space. Need to see more detail? Click on the image and it zooms up to full size. And if you'd rather have words instead of pictures, Default Folder X delivers those details too. The file's size, the date you created and modified it, the Finder label, Spotlight comments, OpenMeta tags, access permissions - they're all there too.
  • Workflow without work: Rather than make you learn and set up a new application, Default Folder X blends into Mac OS X. Its pop-up menus and Finder integration will start saving you time immediately, and it will put your pre-existing Favorite folders in its toolbar right away. When you do decide to start customizing it, Default Folder X lets you set default folders and assign shortcuts right from its toolbar. Finally, effortless workflow.

Version 4.4.9:
  • A new "Add to Default Folder X Favorites" command in the Finder's contextual menus lets you quickly add the selected folder as a favorite. After installing Default Folder X, you must enable the Service in the Keyboard Shortcuts tab of the Keyboard preferences in System Preferences.
  • Default Folder X now supports Automator workflows in Lion, and will support the next version of Automatic Duck's Pro Import AE plugin for AfterEffects.
  • A bug that caused crashes when applications opened http URLs has been fixed. This resolves problems with Sandvox, among other applications.
  • Updated the click-to-copy-filenames feature so it only works when the correct modifier keys are held down.
  • Resolved problems with Default Folder X forgetting favorite folders on some networked drives.
  • Fixed the way Default Folder X locates the file shown in the frontmost document of Carbon applications running under Mac OS X 10.7.

X-Plane 10.04 Beta 4 - Ultra-realistic flight simulator.. (Updater)

Posted: 17 Feb 2012 08:59 PM PST

X-Plane is the world's most comprehensive, powerful flight simulator, and has the most realistic flight model available for personal computers.

Welcome to the world of props, jets, single- and multi-engine airplanes, as well as gliders, helicopters and VTOLs such as the V-22 Osprey and AV8-B Harrier.

X-Plane comes with subsonic and supersonic flight dynamics, sporting aircraft from the Bell 206 Jet-Ranger helicopter and Cessna 172 light plane to the supersonic SR-71 and Space Shuttle. X-Plane comes with 35 aircraft spanning the aviation industry (and history), and several thousand more are freely downloadable from the internet. (See www.X-Plane.org as a good place to start).

X-Plane scenery is world-wide, with scenery for the entire planet Earth between 74 degrees north to 60 degrees south latitude. We also have MARS scenery! (thanks to the Mars Orbiting Laser Altimeter, which mapped that planet's elevation). On Earth, you can land at any of over 33,000 airports, as well as test your mettle on aircraft carriers, helipads on building tops, frigates that pitch and roll in the waves, and oil rigs.

Weather is variable from clear skies and high visibility to thunderstorms with controllable wind, wind shear, turbulence, and microbursts! Rain, snow and clouds are available for an instrument flying challenge, and thermals are available for the gliders! Real weather conditions can be downloaded from the internet, allowing you to fly in the actual weather that currently exists at the location of flight!

X-Plane also has detailed failure-modeling, with multitudes of systems that can be failed manually or randomly, when you least expect it! You can fail instruments, engines, flight controls, landing gear, or dozens of other systems at any moment.

While X-Plane is the world's most COMPREHENSIVE flight sim, your purchase also comes with Plane-Maker (to create your own airplanes) Airfoil-Maker (allowing users to create airfoil performance profiles), and Weather Briefer (to get a weather briefing before the flight if you use real weather conditions downloaded from the internet).

X-Plane is also extremely customizable, allowing you to easily create textures, sounds, and instrument panels for your own airplanes that you design or the planes that come with the sim.

X-Plane's accuracy (in flight model), scope (in aircraft and terrain coverage), versatility (in aircraft type and weather conditions), add-on programs (in aircraft and scenery editors), customizability, downloadable aircraft, and downloadable scenery makes it the ULTIMATE flight simulation experience for Macintosh, Windows, and Linux platforms.

BE SURE TO TURN ON THE >BETA< option in the installer before you run it to get the beta!

The demo contains a limited scenery area to keep the download size reasonable. It will run for 10 minutes before it begins to ignore the user's input, at which point the simulator must be restarted to fly more.

Version 10.04 Beta 4:
  • Latest version of KSEA demo area has variable density of objects with therendering settings. If you have a lower performance computer and run atmedium object settings, the demo airport should have better framerate.
  • Fixed black sky and broken transition from near to far terrain when flyingover overcast cloud layers.
  • Fixed white triangles in sky when looking straight up.

  • Mac OS X 10.5 or later
  • a 2 GHz, dual-core CPU
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • a DirectX 9-capable video card with 128 MB of on-board, dedicated video RAM (VRAM). See here for compatibility and graphics cards.
