Assassin's Creed III: Liberation coming to Vita Posted: 02 Jun 2012 08:04 PM PDT First female protagonist debuting in Assassin's Creed III tie-in as Game Informer subscribers divulge details for handheld installment in Ubisoft stealth action franchise. The first Assassin's Creed game for the PlayStation Vita will also be the first to feature a female assassin in the lead role. As detailed by Game Informer subscribers on NeoGAF, the newest issue of the magazine details Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, set for release alongside Assassin's Creed III this October. Connor won't be the only assassin for the forefathers to worry about. Set around the mid-to-late 18th century, Liberation stars Aveline, a mixed heritage assassin whose travels will take her from New Orleans to Mexico. Developed by Ubisoft Sofia (Prince of Persia Trilogy HD), the game will reportedly feature "true Assassin's Creed gameplay," with a focus on large gameplay areas free of loading screens. The reveal of a female Assassin's Creed lead, especially one set around the same Revolutionary War time period as Assassin's Creed III, is surprising given >recent comments from that game's creative director Alex Hutchinson. In March, Hutchinson addressed calls for a female lead, saying, "It's always up in the air. I think lots of people want it, [but] in this period it's been a bit of a pain. The history of the American Revolution is the history of men… It felt like, if you had all these men in every scene and you're secretly, stealthily in crowds of dudes [as a female assassin], it starts to feel kind of wrong. Xbox 360 getting tablet features at E3 - Report Posted: 02 Jun 2012 07:28 PM PDT Examiner reports "Xbox Smart Glass" will let players stream media, control system remotely, available on multiple operating systems. The next generation of game consoles already has a tablet with the Wii U controller, but a report this week suggests this generation is getting one of its own, specifically for the Xbox 360. The Examiner reports that Microsoft will reveal its "Xbox Smart Glass" tablet at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this coming week. Smart Glass will apparently be available for tablets of all kinds. Photo credit: Examiner.com The report includes a picture of a tablet with a Windows logo on it featuring an "Xbox Smart Glass" branding, and credits Microsoft for the photo. It also suggests the Xbox 360 maker will show off the tablet in behind-closed-doors presentations, but adds that a demo clip will be shown at E3 (presumably at Microsoft's Monday morning media briefing) with no live video. According to The Examiner, the Smart Glass will let players control the Xbox 360 and use it to access Xbox Live apps like Netflix or stream video between the tablet, a TV, desktop PC, or other devices. The functionality of the tablet will also apparently be available in apps for other devices, as the report says it "will be available cross platform on multiple operating systems including Windows, Windows Phone, Android, and iOS." In January, Microsoft filed a trademark for the term "Smart Glass" covering "computer hardware and software for phones, mobile devices, televisions, video game consoles, media players, and audiovisual devices."
